Check or uncheck Picture Placeholders in the Display Setting dialog to show or hide the picture placeholders, see screenshot: Please apply the utility by clicking Enterprise > Display Setting. Scroll through the symbols, and click the degree sign. Note: Word 2010 added an eight 'Checkbox' content control. Placeholder Text does not behave the same way that Instructional Text did and I don't even understand it's use case.
